Action for Women And Rural Development (AWARD)

AAWARD Organization, established in Satara in 2001, is a not-for-profit social organization committed to social transformation and sustainable development. Our work spans across women empowerment, rural development, sustainable agriculture, strengthening livelihoods of rural communities and health promotion, with a strong focus on marginalized communities in Maharashtra, India

Since then, AWARD has been dedicated to social transformation through participatory, community-driven development programs.
The United Nations has set a global agenda to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030. In alignment with this vision, AWARD has been contributing significantly towards 12 of the 17 SDGs through its diverse programs and initiatives.

We work closely with women, farmers, children, youth, and economically backward communities to create pathways for self-reliance, equality, and long-term sustainability.

Key Objectives of AWARD Organization

  • To undertake development projects in rural and urban areas.
  • To promote sustainable agriculture and agriculture-based socially relevant enterprises.
  • To undertake water conservation and watershed development initiatives.
  • To take up work on issues related to Adivasi rights and livelihoods.
  • To facilitate environment education initiatives in schools.
  • To promote women empowerment through self help groups and women enterprises.
  • To undertake constructive developmental projects and create community-based organizations with peoples participation.
  • To address issues related to women, children and youth.
  • To facilitate linkages with Government agencies.

Key Activities and Outcomes

Skill development – 410 Women participated in food processing, bamboo craft training.

A cultural program was organized with the active participation of 250 women

Geographical Area of Operation

    AWARD Organisanation is currently working in Western Maharashtra and Konkan region on programs such as Women Empowerment, Sustainable Agriculture, Promotion of Livelihoods of Adivasi and Marginalised Communities, Water Conservation, Environment Literacy etc.
